Many thanks to Malcolm Johnson, Gitanjali Sah and all the WSIS Forum team and partners for facilitating such a valuable and timely global forum. It was very rich in information about many important initiatives in support of advancing inclusive, resilient and secure digital transformation and global cooperation, sustainable development, bridging the digital divides between and within nations, and contributing to responses to the COVID-19 impacts and related urgent new challenges. I look forward to reading the final reports of the WSIS Forum and future related events!

Congratulations to the WSIS 2021 partners, contributors and not least WSIS secretariat for engaging and insightful couple of months. From UNU we look forward to continue our support and partnership with WSIS in 2022. Not least to build on this years findings around technology use to increase accessibility and inclusiveness of public sector services offers whether digital or analogue. While we see progress on some SDGs, others are stagnant or even cemented by the accelerated digital transformation seen during the pandemic. Monitoring and measurement needs remain especially for digital inclusion to help create value for money plus facilitate knowledge-based and targeted decision making by governments, private and civil society stakeholders.

I would like to offer, as others have done so, our congratulations to all who have contributed to such a successful WSIs forum. We would especially like to thank the ITU SG, the Deputy SG, and all in the WSIS Secretariat for their hard work in delivering such constructive sessions since January. The focus on the role of ICTs in countering COVID-19 itself and the effect of the pandemic on all of our lives was inspiring and has clearly demonstrated the vital role of multi-stakeholder working. Indeed without the cooperation between stakeholders we would not have made the progress we have.
