In your opinion who should regulate Fintechs and how should they be regulated.Do data protection and privacy regulations facilitate or inhibit innovative digital financial services especially requiring privacy on social media used in leu of collateral especially for women
Peter McConaghy, O/UNSGSA
01:59:31
Thank you for this important and stimulating panel! I would love to hear a bit more about efforts to link basic transaction accounts to the use of more diversified products, particularly savings and insurance. Has FIGI worked explicitly on this link and do we have thoughts around useful entry points? In the spirit of access leading to meaningful usage of diversified products.

ln the early years of Mpesa under p2p we required Safaricom carry out research on many parameters and yes more women were receiving than men. Lt is easy for payment service providers to track much of these statistics. However we do not need to increase regulatory costs
Driss Choukri, Senior Expert of FMI Bank Al Maghrib

M. Bilel mentione the issue of the no connexion of women to internet. the problem is double: women who lives in sidecountry with no network couverture and the cost of the device and mobile souscription. how to solve/finance this challenges ?
Anna Ferracuti
02:09:03
Dear all, my name is Anna Ferracuti, Financial Inclusion Expert & Advisor to Blu Network, a spin-off from research led by the University of Southampton that aims to deliver vital content and services to digitally unconnected communities.>> Adding to Driss, I hope to hear more about solutions to or thoughts about persistent challenges in connectivity & affordability when it comes to effectively reaching women & rural communities, who often times have to decide whether to spend in top-ups or varied & healthy food on the table. Could Level 1 Principles be extended to the wider economy? When I think of the internet, I see how Level 1 Principles remain relevant. Connectivity has been the big enabler and barrier, in my experience.

How can we acquire support and funding from this network to scale our My Pocket financial inclusion app, bank accounts and debit cards? We have 50K customers in Europe and Africa and over 100M Euros in transfers and charging only 3% transfer cost, as per the World Bank and helping to fulfill 11 or the 17 UN SDGs. We are currently raising our Series A and our investment documents are located here - https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/10SlFx07AYU7eh6gqaHilQycHMzARWIfg?usp=sharing

Various development programs increasingly focus on (Digital) Financial Inclusion...The pandemic also provided an opportunity to accelerate this momentum. Yet too often (and I liked Jamie’s note on this) development programs see DFI as an “end” rather that a “mean” toward improved livelihoods and fall short on demonstrating pathways between DFI and decreased poverty, greater Women’s economic Empowerment etc. How can we jointly bridge this evidence gaps ? How does the FIGI initiative plan to measure not only DFI but also broader outcomes (decreased poverty, WEE)? Thank you again to all panelists!
