COVID-19 is being described as the first major pandemic of the social media age. With more than half of the world’s population under lockdown conditions by early April, women and girls are using the internet with greater frequency. In this context, emerging data shows that since the outbreak of COVID-19, online and ICT-facilitated violence against women and girls has increased in several countries.
The webinar will highlight the key trends and impacts of ICT-facilitated violence against women and girls during COVID-19. It will focus on concrete actions taken by governments, women’s rights organizations and internet providers to strengthen women and girls’ safety online.
